Together with the University of Western Brittany and the "Ecole Nationale d’Ingénieur de Brest" (ENIB), Telecom Bretagne is accredited to award the Research Master degree "Electronics and Telecommunications" / specialisation : "Materials and Microwave Devices for Communication Systems"
The specialisation "Materials and Microwave Devices for Communication Systems" provides top-level training in a most important field of telecommunications technology. The design and technological contents of such systems require a wide field of knowledge, going way beyond the simple aspects of the mobile phone. On graduating from this course, students will have acquired a full understanding of all the constituent levels in designing those telecommunications networks which will be emerging from research laboratories and industry over the years to come.
The main objective of this course is to provide a research-oriented approach for those students wishing to devote their careers to work in universities or Research Centres, in the field of high-frequency electronics for telecommunications, for the automobile industry …
The Master II (M2) is made up of two semesters:
Running from the end of September through to the end of January, the first semester is made up of 5 teaching modules and 3 experimental, elective modules, ranging from Passive and Active Components, to the Functions and Architecture of Telecommunication Systems, to Electromagnetic Modelling, to Electromagnetic compatibility and Materials. The experimental modules cover such fields as : An initiation to the Use of High-Frequency Measuring equipment, an Initiation to using commercially-available Digital Simulators.
Each module lasts 30h and is worth 5 ECTS points.
Examinations take place in January/February and in June.
The second semester is entirely devoted to an internship with a research team, in France or abroad. The topic examined must be very research-oriented and must be agreed upon with the Course Leader.
