
Kevin Heggarty received his B.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge (UK) in 1987, his M.Sc. in Telecommunications and Information Systems from the University of Essex (UK) in 1988 and his doctorate from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (E.N.S.T.) in Paris (FRANCE) in 1991. After a year spent teaching in Africa, he joined Telecom Bretagne where he is now assistant Professor and where he set up and ran the European Masters in Optical Telecommunications and Datacoms Networks. He is currently co-leader of the teaching workpackage in the BONE European Network of Excellence on Optical Telecommunications and has taught in the UK, Spain and Germany. His research interests include non-display applications of spatial light modulators, the design and fabrication of diffractive micro-optical elements and their applications in optical telecommunications and optical information processing in general.
